Office water coolers are a modern social networking tool. Since they are often placed in common areas in an offices such as a break room or in a central office location, employees often congregate around water coolers to talk and network. Gossip is also common at water coolers since this is the only time many employees are able to talk to each other throughout the day. Nearly all work places have water coolers, and since many employees use them throughout the day, there are many times where more than one employee is trying to use the water cooler at the same time.
